King Kong

The sculpting of Ann Darrow took about as long as Kong. She is just over 2 inches tall from head to toe, and the granuality of the clay particles prevented adding much further detail. Like Peter Jackson in his 2005 remake, I based Kong on a western lowland silverback but with his face modeled after Shabani, the world's most photogenic ape. The overall composition is based on the 2005 film poster. The key difference between Kong and a western lowland silverback gorilla is more humanized facial features, especially the eyes, and most notably the absence of a "silver" back. My thanks again to the Ceramic Art Studio and Shop.
