Black Cat (제숙이)

This piece started out as a generic Tabby cat, but ended up as a black cat based on the results of an Instagram poll... and my impatience with glaze painting a complex pattern. Both Tabby and black cats are not a specific breed, but are actually a descriptor of domestic cats based on their physical characteristics. This is technically my sixth ceramic cat, including the Water Bearer and the Lion, White Tiger, Siberian Tiger 1.0, Barbary (Atlas) Lion, and Siberian Tiger 2.0... and my seventh if you also count the Black Panther! Incidentally, her owner has named her 제숙이 (Jae-sook-ee). My thanks again to the Ceramic Art Studio and Shop.

Artemis (Diana) Goddess of the Hunt

Artemis (Roman: Diana) was the Greek goddess of the hunt, wilderness, wild animals, the moon, and chastity. She along with Athena (my other work), were two famously virgin goddesses renowned for both their beauty and martial skills. Artemis was also the twin older sister of Apollo (my other work), and both were experts with the bow and arrow and are credited with the origins of archery. I based Artemis' pose on a photo of a stone age huntress by Reine-Haru and photographed by Ron Tencati. My thanks again to the Ceramic Art Studio and Shop.

More Siberian Chipmunks

A few more Siberian chipmunks (Eutamias sibiricus) based on the unexpected popularity of my Siberian Chipmunk diffuser. The three chipmunks represent different phases of adult life: 1) The standing chipmunk represents the youthful period when one is looking beyond the horizon for what the future may bring, 2) The sitting chipmunk is in early adulthood when one is simply feasting on life's joys, and 3) The last chipmunk, mature and aware of life's uncertainties is busy squirreling away for the future. Blue-ringed Octopus Dish (Version 1.0)

The blue-ringed octopus (Hapalochlaena lunulate) is a strikingly beautiful but also highly dangerous species of cephalopod found in the Pacific and Indian oceans. Despite its small size, the blue-ringed octopus carries enough venom to kill twenty-six adult humans within minutes, and as of 2019, there is no antivenom available for it's bite. This is my second functional octopus, the first being the Ceramic Cephalopod iPad stand. And yes, Version 1.0 implies I will be taking another attempt at this.
